Many years ago, I was in Boston visiting a friend. He loved the wilderness. One of his favorite places was the Allagash wilderness in northern Maine. We talked and planned and dreamed about a time when we could canoe the Allagash River and camp and hike in the wilderness. Then, one day when my friend died unexpectedly... so did our dream.
When I think about him and how he lived his life, investing everyday in the lives of others, I imagine him looking down, still enjoying the beauty of the wilderness and watching over the family and friends he cared for so deeply. So, I named this sculpture in honor of Cecil, and the dream we dreamed together.
